Journalism is about history.
It can be the way we remember how things occurred. The Bill of Rights protects the freedom of
the press and the private business of journalism. Multiple newspapers were published by Benjamin
Franklin. He was a journalist who became
very successful from his publications, like Poor Richard’s Almanack.
What if
people weren't allowed to publish written materials? Today would be a whole different world if we
didn't have newspapers, magazines, or any published information on the
internet. People all around the world
wouldn't be informed about the events occurring right around them. Oscar Wilde once said, "In America the
President reigns for four years, and Journalism governs for ever and
ever." This shows that journalism
doesn't just go away after a life time, but stays alive forever.
Early
American journalism had a very different way of publishing. Today we can just click a button a computer
screen and have it print hundreds of copies.
In early journalism people had to sit down and hand write every single
page of information. I understand the
big differences in journalism over the years.
